Race day is serious business but if you're not enjoying it, ya might wanna think about a new profession.
Check out the grins on #94R Ronnie Nelson and #45 Darrel Dovel. Sac Mile, 1964.

And the original... or at least an original 8X10 print.
I have yet to find out if this is actually a Bob Myers produced photo but the print I'm working with is period correct, complete with a crease or two and thumb tack holes in the corners. The guys were in Cali at that time (of course Nixon was!) This scan of the image doesn't do justice to the patina, but the photo comes from the collection of a prolific motorcycle race photographer who had this kind a relationship with Nixon. Gary even worked in Bob's shop and lived at Bob's house, rumor has it until Bob's wife said "he's got to go!" :ROFLMAO:
Anyway. It has become an icon of dirt track history. Maybe bigger than Nixon himself with current fans... and I always love seeing it still being appreciated!

Here's another shot of Gary with a smile during that same California trip after he won the Sac mile.
Lunch break is over. Gotta get back to work.

A =fast= guy & forever legend he is.

Here's a cover pic of one of the famous J.C Agajanian caricature programs, where Gary is featured in the cartoon for Sacto in 1968.
